February 19th we will have our second baby dedications!

Just as Jesus was dedicated as a child, we follow the same tradition and offer parents an opportunity to dedicate their children to God and declare their intentions to raise them in a Godly manner.

WHY DEDICATION?

Children are a gift from God. Psalm 127:3 proclaims, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.” As believers we are called to recognize that children belong first and foremost to God. God in his goodness gives children as gifts to parents. You not only have the awesome responsibility of caring for this gift, but also the wonderful privilege of enjoying the gift. Because children belong to God and are given by grace as gifts to parents, it is only proper and appropriate that children be dedicated back to God.

NOT BAPTISM?

It must be stressed that we are dedicating and not baptizing. Jesus himself was dedicated as a child and then baptized as an adult. Baptism is done in response to repentance and faith in Jesus. Dedication is done by the parents and involves making a vow to completely submit their child to the will of God and raise that child in the ways of the Lord.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities God has entrusted to Christian parents include continuously praying for their children (Job 1:5), instructing them in the way of the Lord (Proverbs 22:6), setting a godly example (Proverbs 20:7), and disciplining them as the Lord would discipline us (Proverbs 29:15,17; 13:24). These responsibilities can only be fulfilled in Christ’s strength (Philippians 4:13).

YOUR COMMITMENT

We ask that you enter into the following commitment in the presence of God and his people: So that your child may walk in the abundant life that Christ offers, you vow by God’s help and in partnership with the church, to provide a Christian home of love and peace, to raise them in the truth of our Lord’s instruction and discipline, and to encourage them to one day trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

What does it mean to live a life with God?

Have you ever wanted to experience God’s presence tangibly? Are there sins or life patterns that you’re struggling to get rid of? Would you like to pray better, and discover new Spiritual gifts? Do you wonder what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit?

JIM CRITCHER, Associate Pastor of Grace Covenant Church, and friend to Trinity New Life Church, will be leading us in our first event of this sort, called Encounter. Encounter is a new experience that we’re excited to offer to you, where you’ll have the chance to engage God experientially on a deeper level than we’re often able to acheive on a typical Sunday morning.

Join us on January 21 at Baypointe Church (5238 Mile Stretch Drive, Holiday, FL) at 8:55am for this life-changing event.

The cost will be $10 for individuals and $15 for couples. Lunch, and coffee and snacks will be provided. You can pay the day of the event but MUST REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME!

Hey super-church!

I hope you’re having a great post-Christmas, pre-New Year’s week, recovering from all the festivities. I don’t think my waistline’s quite recovered from all of the fantastic food yet!

Since we’re not meeting again until January 1st, I wanted to send you a quick reminder about end-of-the-year giving. If you missed our Christmast Conspiracy offering on December 18th, were out of town on December 23rd, or just want to give one last blessing on your 2011 tax returns, you need to do it this week!

There are two simple, easy ways for you to do your end-of-the-year giving:

Happy Monday, Super-Church!

We’re only a few days away from our big community-wide Christmas service, held December 23rd at 7pm. This is going to be an incredible way to end the year, and a great opportunity for you to engage in one of our core values, Intentional Evangelism. I know many people don’t feel comfortable inviting friends to church, so I wanted to take a minute to offer some helpful suggestions:

Use an invite card
Hopefully you picked up some of our Christmas invite cards yesterday at church, because they’re a great way to help your friends and family remember the details of the service. An easy way to ask them to come is to simply say “If you don’t have any plans already, I’d love to invite you to our church’s Christmas Eve service on December 23rd.” Perhaps even the fact that it’s the 23rd and not the 24th will be a point of conversation. Worst case scenario? They say no. Same result as if you didn’t ask. Best case? They come, love it, come back, and they begin a life-long relationship with God. Yep, seems worth it!<

RSVP to the service on Facebook:
Most of you are on Facebook, so we’ve created an event there for you to use in inviting your friends. RSVP here if you haven’t already, and then click the “Invite Friends” button at the top. I would STRONGLY encourage you to add a personal note to everyone you invite, however. The more personal you can make the invitation, the better.

MOST IMPORTANT- PRAY!!!
Church, no amount of marketing and posting will take the place of God working on someone’s heart and drawing them to Him. Ask God who He wants you to invite, pray for them specifically, and then invite them! Pray for them daily, pray for their hearts to be open, pray for them to hear from God!

Church, this post and this service isn’t about filling a room so that we can feel satisfied and happy with ourselves. This is about doing everything we can, short of sin, to see people come into an environment full of love for Jesus and love for people. This is about seeing people come into an environment where they can hear the message of Jesus Christ.

What could be a better way to end the year?!?

I didn’t think so.

So let’s get it on! It’s impossible to please God without faith, we gain victory over the world through faith, we’re made right in relationship to God by faith, so it would seem we need more and more faith!!!

Our Father in heaven, holy is your name

Lord, I pray these attributes of your name today. You are:
>My Savior: Thank you for your cross and your sacrifice!
>My Lord and King: I respect you and love to obey you!
>My Friend: You have made me your heir. I am a child of God!
>My Righteousness: I am in right standing with God because of your blood!
>My Provider: You are my supplier and sufficiency!

>Lord, I ask for the protection found in Psalm 91– I know that you will save me from every trap and plague. I will find shelter in the cover of your wings. No matter what evil is happening around me, I will not be affected by it. You will command your angels concerning me to protect me from harm.

August Prayer and Fasting Info

August 24th kicks off a three-day fast for our church as we prepare to see God move in our community and church in the fall!!!

To help you out here’s some Prayer and Fasting Info. It’s a PDF which should answer most of your questions about what fasting is and is not, as well as a list of specific prayer goals for our church. The list is also repeated below.

If you’ve never fasted before PLEASE READ THE GUIDE and consider starting at some level THIS WEEK! And if you’ve never been to a prayer meeting with other people before, this is the time to start! We’re not looking for super-faith warriors only, we’re looking for people ready to take the next step in their faith. This is it!

No excuses! Big faith! Let’s move forward in faith and join together in unity around the following topics:

LOVE JESUS

For every person in our church to have a passionate, white-hot love for Jesus Christ.
For everyone to seek to grow in holiness and intimacy with God every day of their lives, allowing him to expose false idols in our lives.
For false idols to be exposed in the lives of those who don’t know Jesus, specifically the idols of trusting in moral goodness, security of money, and pride in personal abilities.
Pray for the salvation of everyone in our area! Pray for their lives to be rescued and restored by Jesus!
Pray for our kids to love Jesus from an early age, that we would see salvations in New Life Kids with regularity!
Pray for middle and high school students to give their lives to Jesus and withstand the pressures and temptations of their environment.
Pray our New Life Groups will see great community and discipleship!

LOVE PEOPLE

Pray we would be a spiritual family, not just an organization.
Pray we would love and care for each other like a real family, bearing one another’s burdens in love.
Pray for the strengthening of families and marriages in our community.
Pray against divorce in our community and our church. Pray for broken marriages to be reconciled by the power of the Gospel.
Success in evangelism, specifically for these people: (list your friends here)

SERVE THE CITY

Pray for the staff and students of our host school, Trinity Elementary. Pray for all of our schools in the area!
Pray for the growth and success of our plants in Boston and Miami.
Pray for the churches in our local area, that we would all see souls saved!

Let’s see community and church transformed!
