ROMANS 5:18-21

18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

THE GREAT UNIVERSAL

The result of Adam’s sin was death for mankind, not immediate, but eventual. The result of God’s gift was life for all who would receive it. What we see in the work of Jesus Christ is the great reversal, the exchange of the consequences of sin, for the righteousness of God. In one glorious act, God has reinstated the purpose of man, and made a way for man to be able to carry it out!

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Q: What does verse 21 say that “God’s wonderful grace” gives us? Write that down and place it somewhere you will see it often. Repeat that as often as you feel the shame of sin in your life!

Q: Knowing that Jesus reversed the consequences of sin, and reinstated out purpose, how do you see your life from this point on? What good purposes has God laid out for your life?

Q:  Is there anyone in your life who need to know about what God has done for all mankind today?
