Devotions for August 3, 2017

ACTS 2:42-45

The Believers Form a Community
42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper[a]), and to prayer.

43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.

After seeing Jesus and knowing the people who followed him, the early church was full of commitment. Not just to their faith, but to each other in a way that even amazed the Jewish people of their day.

Q: What did the believers devote themselves to? Out of their devotion, what came over them?

Q: Is it easier to give to God when you are relationally close to Him, or when you’ve not spent time with Him? Why?

Q: When you give to others, out of a love for Jesus, who gets the glory?
