Devotions for January 10, 2017

JUDGES 21:25

25 In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.

PROVERBS 14:12

12 There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death.

THE MOMENTUM OF PRIDE

Pride is a force that is hard to fight and in this time and place, pride has snuck in under the disguise of feelings. In that form of feeling, we see this force of “I trust me, more than I trust He” that is being applied over time in our lives. This creates momentum away from God and away from the way we were created to live.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Q: In what way do these two verses depend on each other to give a full view of what is “right”?

Q: How do your feelings act like a force in your life? Do you control them, or have you given God control?

Q: Do you respond to your friends or family based on your feelings at the time? How does this harm or build your relationships?
