Devotions for July 19, 2017

11 The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales,
but he delights in accurate weights.
2 Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
3 Honesty guides good people;
dishonesty destroys treacherous people.
4 Riches won’t help on the day of judgment,
but right living can save you from death.
5 The godly are directed by honesty;
the wicked fall beneath their load of sin.
6 The godliness of good people rescues them;
the ambition of treacherous people traps them.

In this passage, Solomon instructs us on how to live with integrity.

Q: What does Proverbs tells us guides good people? What rescues them?

Q: How do people with integrity carry themselves differently than the average person? What are the things they refuse to do? What are the things you can always count on them to do?

Q: Take a moment to take account of yourself. What’s an area in your life that you’ve been less than honest, an area where you’ve acted with less than the best integrity? What could you do differently to honor God’s name with your integrity?
