MATTHEW 5:3

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,[a] for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

WHO ARE THE BLESSED?

Too often we hold these scriptures as ideals to strive for, but that’s the complete opposite of what Jesus was saying. He was trying to say that when you are in Christ, you are blessed! You do not need to try and get these things, but know that it’s the insignificant that will be called first.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Q: Are these people financially or spiritually poor? Is it both? Which do you find yourself in today?

Q: Does Jesus only love those who have money? Does He love only those who find themselves close to him? How much does your need for Him get filled with His love for you?

Q: When you spend time with your friends, is it only because of what they do for you? How often do you want to bless them? How much more is that from your heavenly Father?
