MATTHEW 5:10-12

10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Jesus doesn’t tell anyone in this passage of scripture to get out of their current situation. He is telling them that their situation isn’t what they think it is, if they are looking at it with only their human, cultural point of view. He wants them to leave that behind and rework their perspective in light of the Kingdom of God.

Q: What is Jesus saying to those who are being persecuted?

Q: What does persecution look like to you? Is it just being annoyed or inconvenienced, or are you enduring wrong because of the way your life honors Jesus?

Q: When you are talking to others about living in the Kingdom of Christ, is it about the pain, or is it about the hope?
