Colossians 2:13-15

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Josh preached this week about prevailing under adversity. As Christians, our identity and worth are built upon the foundation of Jesus’ perfect life; that is, He prevailed by perfectly honoring God. Jesus publicly shamed death on the cross. This means that we are forever changed by His grace, as He purchased for us eternal life and provides abundant spiritual life now.

Q: The Bible teaches that without a relationship with Jesus, we are spiritually dead in our sins. Our sin puts us in debt with God. According to verse 14, what did Jesus do to set us free from the curse of sin?

Q: Who are you trusting now to prevail over the sin patterns in your life? Are you living according to your own strength or leaning in dependence upon Jesus?

Q: Who are the people in your life with whom you should share your testimony of prevailing because of what Jesus has done?
