but the tongue that deceives will be cut off.
32 The lips of the godly speak helpful words,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.

but the words of the wise bring healing.

Proverbs 15:1-4

A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing,
but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.
3 The Lord is watching everywhere,
keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.
4 Gentle words are a tree of life;
a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 15:30

A cheerful look brings joy to the heart;
good news makes for good health.

Proverbs 18:21

The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

Q: Verse 12:18 tells us that our words can cut. Are you using the things that you confess with your speech to cut yourself or others? Do you bring encouragement into your life and the lives of those around you with the things you say? Or are you always finding ways to talk about the negative?

Q: Have you brought “good news” to anyone today? Can you think of someone who needs it? Who will you encourage today?
