Psalm 68:5-6

5 Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—
this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
6 God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

Ephesians 1:5

5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Q: How does adoption play a role in your family? Have you adopted children, or taken in kids that you treat as your own? Are you from a blended family? Is blood-relation the only thing that makes a family? What about your church family? Have you been adopted there? Are you adopting new friends into your family?

Q: How does adoption relate to a second-chance? When you confessed your sins and embraced the forgiveness and freedom found in Jesus, did He not adopt you and give you a second-chance?
