HEBREWS 12:1-3

God’s Discipline Proves His Love
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people;[c] then you won’t become weary and give up.

There are many stories in the Bible of men and women whose lives bear witness to the power of faith: Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Rahab to name a few. They focused, not on their circumstances, but on the joy and promise of God.

Q: Legacy is something handed down from one generation to the next. What lessons have been handed down in our spiritual family?

Q: You will continue to face challenges and difficulties in your life. What daily step can you take to keep your focus on Jesus during these times?

Q: Sometimes our circumstances may seem impossible. How can you encourage a family member (we are all family in Christ) to focus on Jesus and not their circumstances?
