Psalm 95:1-2

Come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving.
Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

Psalm 47:1-4

Come, everyone! Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!
2 For the Lord Most High is awesome.
He is the great King of all the earth.
3 He subdues the nations before us,
putting our enemies beneath our feet.
4 He chose the Promised Land as our inheritance,
the proud possession of Jacob’s descendants, whom he loves.

Psalm 98

Sing a new song to the Lord,
for he has done wonderful deeds.
His right hand has won a mighty victory;
his holy arm has shown his saving power!
2 The Lord has announced his victory
and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!
3 He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel.
The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
4 Shout to the Lord, all the earth;
break out in praise and sing for joy!
5 Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song,
6 with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!
7 Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!
Let the earth and all living things join in.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands in glee!
Let the hills sing out their songs of joy
9 before the Lord,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with justice,
and the nations with fairness.

Q: When you choose a team, how do you show your allegiance? Do you wear the jersey, cheer loudly, make it a public declaration of who who are rooting for? How is your allegiance driven by your passion? Do the things that you have a passion for cause you to have a reaction of joy, or excitement, whenever you talk about them?

Q: Why do you think that the Psalmist David spoke continually about shouting God’s praises? Do you have a passion for the things of God? Do you have the urge to shout for joy when you think about the things He has done for you? If you don’t, why not? What prevents you from declaring your allegiance to Jesus by showing your passion for him?
