1 TIMOTHY 5:1-3

Advice about Widows, Elders, and Slaves
5 Never speak harshly to an older man,[a] but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. 2 Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.

3 Take care of[b] any widow who has no one else to care for her.

29 The glory of the young is their strength;
the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old.

We are to treat all people as if they are members of our beloved family. God expects us to show the people around us the same honor we would show our own mother, father, brother or sister. We should let these principles guide our actions, moving our relationships from rivalry to reverence.

Q: What are these passages saying about how you are to view and to treat the people in your life?

Q: How can you use the principle of treating all people as if they are family to guide your relationships?

Q: How will you allow reverence for others to show the love of Jesus through you today?
