Happy Monday, everyone!
As promised, here’s the leftovers from yesterday’s sermon. If you have any follow-up questions, make sure to post them below so I can answer them.
- Loved this book by Mark Driscoll, Vintage Church. It’s not advocating for the WAY churches should operate, but WHAT they need to have as core functions, and then figure out the best way in the context. A little much for a newbie, but not hard to understand.
- Another great book, Stop Dating the Church, by Josh Harris (yes, the Kissed Dating Goodbye guy. He’s all grown up!). I couldn’t touch on this without it taking over the whole message, and will probably be it’s own message in the future. Too many treat the Church like a lady of the night instead of a bride.
- Great message by Ed Stetzer on the relationship of the church to the Kindgom of God.
- One more message by Dr. Keller on being the church in culture.
- What the church looks like from an outsiders’ perspective.
- How about some Bible? 1 Corinthians 12 is a great discussion of the value and importance of every member of the church, no matter how public or hidden their role is. EVERYONE is valuable!
- In fact, according to Ephesians 4:11-16 the ones doing the work are the people of God, not the professionals. TNLC and other churches can’t max out who we’re called to be unless you’re playing your part!
- 1 Peter 2:4-5 is a great convo of what the church is like.
- When ever you’re debating a point of theology or practice with another Christian or non-Christian, make sure your argument is always “The Bible says….” and not “My church says…” We’re not building our own empires, but the Kingdom of Christ!
Ok, that’s it for me. Any other questions?
