Devotionals for April 22, 2022

New sermon series begins this Sunday! Join us at 9:00am and 10:30am.

READ

James 1:22-25 (NLT)

“22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

REFLECT

Do you really give yourself the time to read, comprehend and meditate on God’s word? As a part of your study of God’s word, are you making a plan to live out God’s word? TNLC’s daily devotions focus on 3 things: Learning the word, obeying the word, and teaching the word.

APPLY

Q: According to James, how can you secure God’s blessing?

Q: What action do you need to take to live out God’s word today?

Q: Does someone in your life need to hear about God’s love? Are you going to tell them about it?

PRAY

"And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one."

Holy Spirit, help me guard my heart against the evil one. Send your grace to me. Lord, open my mind as I read your word, and help me fortify myself against the temptations that take me away from your love.
