READ

Proverbs 15:22
Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.

Genesis 2:18
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”

REFLECT

Reading the Bible consistently is great. Obeying what you read is wonderful. But if this is the only way in which we express our faith, we are missing one of the biggest blessings that God has given us—other people. The need for community, companionship, and friendship is not a cultural construct that we’ve learned, but a deep and innate desire that God planted within us when he created us. It’s a desire that reflects his nature as a God who exists as Father, Son, and Spirit—a perfect, eternal community. It is a deep personal need that lies within each of us that, when met, overshadows even the most extravagant versions of ‘worldly success’. If you find that you are having great difficulty obeying the commands of God, and also recognize that genuine Christian community is absent in your life, rejoice, because you’ve just shone a light on one of the enemies’ most effective tactics at keeping you enslaved to the life you lived before Christ set you free! It is not good...sorry, let’s be more succinct...It. Is. Bad. for a man to be alone. We need others to come alongside us as helpers, and we need to be helpers for others. Without that, real success is simply impossible.

PRAY

"Give us today our daily bread."

Father God, I trust that you are good. I trust that you give good gifts. I trust that you know not just what I want, but what I need. Help me not to rely only on the personal time that I spend with you, but also on the relationships that you have put in my life to help me live out the success of following you in every area of my life. Amen.
