READ

John 14:15-17

“15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

1 Corinthians 2:14‭-‬16

“14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 ‘For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”

REFLECT

The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Helper, and Counselor. For us to become more like Christ we need to think how he does. This renewing of our minds is difficult because of the flesh. The Disciples must have been losing their minds trying to comprehend Jesus’ parables. And that was Jesus’ way of simplifying it for us, because we lacked the equipment to comprehend the things of the Spirit. Do you really think the human mind alone can understand the ways of the Almighty God? No; this is why we need the Helper. That is why it's better the Jesus went and sent the Holy Spirit. He can constantly teach believers His ways and bring to remembrance all the things that the Lord said.

APPLY

Q: Why did the Holy Spirit come to help us?

Q: How can you lean on the Spirit today and allow Him to comfort and counsel you?

Q: Who can you remind today that the Spirit will Counsel us in the ways of the Father? Also, remind them that we will never have Him all figured out.

SING

PRAY

"Give us today our daily bread."

Father thank you for always providing for us! Not what we want, but everything that we need. We needed your Son and you delivered. We needed your Spirit and He is with us. Continue to help us understand your ways, and empower us to walk in them as well. You have never failed; it isn't in you to do so. You deserve all the glory. In Jesus’ name.
