1 Thessalonians 1:5

REFLECT

The power of the Holy Spirit cannot be denied. There's no way around it. But as most believers know this is where things can get controversial amongst one another. Acts 1:8 is clear on two things: the Holy Spirit gives us power and is given for us to be witnesses for Christ. That word “and” is a conjunction, meaning that the power of the Spirit and witnessing about Christ go hand in hand. In the same verse we are told “what” and “why”. We are not to use this power for our own glory and personal gain. It is to be used to testify to the truth- Jesus! So, we will not only have the Word, but also demonstrate it by the power of the Holy Spirit.

APPLY

Q: Will we receive power in the Holy Spirit? What is that power for?

Q: Are you operating in the power of the Holy Spirit, and testifying to the resurrection of Jesus Christ?

Q: The power of the Spirit is NOT about you. The Holy Spirit always has and always will testify to our Lord and Savior.

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Father forgive me for the arrogance and pride of the flesh. You give power to help us tell others about how you redeemed us. And that same power helps me to live accordingly. By word and deed I will give you glory. And until you call me home I will witness of your goodness through all of the Earth. In Jesus’ name.
