READ
JOHN 15:1-5
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

REFLECT
Jesus identifies Himself as the True Grapevine, the source of all fruit in the Christian life. Let us recall that this “fruit” is loving others, displaying generosity, learning God’s Word, obeying His commands, teaching truth to others, and serving your local church (and so much more). Fruit is grown, not given. We use the gifts of grace that God gives us to exert effort and bear fruit in the Kingdom.

PRAY
"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."
Lord God, we confess that we have not lived as we should. We repent of our sin and receive your forgiveness in view of the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. May we understand that we must forgive others in the same way you have forgiven us by demonstrating mercy and grace.
