PSALM 104:19-24

You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. 20 You send the darkness, and it becomes night when all the forest animals prowl about. 21 Then the young lions roar for their prey, stalking the food provided by God. 22 At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. 23 Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening. 24 O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom, you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.

REFLECT

Among the many things we can celebrate about God, one of the things that the Psalmist celebrates in today’s passage is the wisdom of God. Yes, God is omniscient, meaning he knows all things. But he is also completely and totally wise, knowing all information as well as the perfect way to make use of that information. He doesn’t just know all the facts, he knows the exact right decisions to make in light of those facts. He considers ALL scenarios and outcomes and always makes a perfect choice. He is truly a God full of wisdom. And there is no situation in your life that God doesn’t know exactly how to handle in the best possible way. This means that we can trust him with our lives, with the big and small decisions we have to make every day. We can trust that he will always lead us exactly where we need to go, at exactly the time that we need to go there. Let’s trust in the manifold wisdom of God today!

APPLY

Q: How do you see the wisdom in God’s creation?

Q: James, in his letter in the new testament, tells us that if we do not have wisdom we should ask God and he will give it to us. Do you regularly ask God for wisdom? What situations do you need wisdom for right now?

Q: Is there someone in your life who needs godly wisdom? Take some time to pray and ask God to provide wisdom on behalf of someone else today.

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for making a way where there was no way. In your infinite wisdom, you made a plan to rescue me. I am forever grateful Lord. Teach me your ways, give me your wisdom that I would follow you in all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
