READ

PSALM 42:1-4

As a deer pants for flowing streams,

so pants my soul for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God,

for the living God.

When shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my food

day and night,

while they say to me all day long,

“Where is your God?”

These things I remember,

as I pour out my soul:

how I would go with the throng

and lead them in procession to the house of God

with glad shouts and songs of praise,

a multitude keeping festival.

REFLECT

Whether it’s because of life circumstances that were out of your control that you became  distracted from your relationship with God, because complacency and apathy allowed you to slowly drift away from the shore of devoted faith, or because unchecked or unconfessed sin in your life resulted in what the Apostle Paul calls a shipwrecked faith, or because doubts and questions and fears slowly eroded the firm foundation of Christ that you stood upon or any number of reasons… it happens. The question is… what will you do?

APPLY

Q: How does David respond specifically during this dark time?

Q: What do you do when the vibrant faith that you once enjoyed is now just a memory?

Q: Do you find yourself openly praising or complaining more? What is the source of faith others see springing from you?

SING

PRAY

"May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."

Lord, there are so many things in this world that scare me!  Help me trust in you and your authority and show me how to live confidently knowing you are in control.  Help me prioritize time with you even on the busiest of days.
