PSALMS 42:1-2
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
JOHN 7:37-39
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

REFLECT
In this Scripture, Jesus uses “rivers of living water” as a metaphor for the new life He offers through His sacrifice and the Holy Spirit. John offers an aside here that Jesus was talking about the gift of the Spirit He will give to all those who believe. So, when we feel spiritually thirsty — or dry — it’s a good sign we need to draw near to Jesus and rely on the Holy Spirit.

"Give us today our daily bread."
Thank you, Jesus, for giving us what we need for each day. Help me overcome my doubts and to trust in you completely. Keep my eyes focused on you, Lord, and let me lay my burdens down before you. Give me faith to know you will take care of all my needs. Thank you for always being there and for calming the storms in my life.
