READ
JOHN 3:28-36
You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.
He must increase, but I must decrease.”
He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all.
He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony.
Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true.
For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.
The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

REFLECT
John the Baptist could have been a totally different person in the Bible: Imagine if he had glorified himself or had taken all the cred. Worse…what if he had made himself a messiah figure? Thankfully, this pivot point is one of humility, pointing the world to the Lamb of God, the only One who can save. His example takes so much pressure off of us to be the main influencer for others. Sure, we have influence, but we’re to point others to Jesus — not ourselves

Q: What does God gives to those who love and obey His Son?
Q: How can this passage encourage and strengthen you during a challenging time?
Q: Why is it important to point others to Jesus even when you may feel far from God or go through a dark time?

PRAY
"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."
God forgive me when I seek to become greater for this world. Help me learn to be humble and to become less and less so that You can become greater. I want to prepare the way for you and make disciples who change the world. Reveal to me how I can do that and show me what you need me to do or where you need to me go. Help me give You all the glory, Lord!
