GENESIS 1:1-2

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

PSALM 58:1-2

Justice—do you rulers know the meaning of the word? Do you judge the people fairly? 2 No! You plot injustice in your hearts. You spread violence throughout the land.

REFLECT

This week’s devotional is written with an understanding that God created the heavens and earth and out of His perfect creation, there is perfect value. A value worth fighting for. That you, as a believer in Christ, have eternity written on your heart, and out of that, we respond differently to the idea of justice for any of the many things that our culture demands a response to.

Justice: Divinely righteous action, whether taken by humanity or God, that promotes equality among humanity. Used in relation to uplifting the righteous and oppressed and debasing the unrighteous and oppressors - The Lexham Bible Dictionary

APPLLY

Q: Who created the heavens and the earth? Do you believe that? Does that creator create bad things?

Q: How do you define justice? And who deserves justice?

Q: What are things that you are passionate to fight for? Make a list of things that you believe that you have been called to seek justice for, then put a star next to the things that you have scripture to support.

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."

Father. May your name forever be on our lips. That all we say and do bring you glory and honor and help us to say and fight for the things that are holy and right because you are holy are right. Amen.
