COLOSSIANS 3:12-13

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience — bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others.

EPHESIANS 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

What’s the heaviest weight you’ve held? Even a small weight, like holding a child, for a long time can be painful. There’s also a weight to holding onto a grudge and unforgiveness. It’s heavy and erodes compassion. And holding onto it causes spiritual tears between you and others. Yet Jesus took the weight of our sin to bring healing and wholeness. He’s our true model for what forgiveness looks like.

Q: Why is forgiving one another and being compassionate towards each other so important?

Q: Reflect on that heavy weight in your heart: Who do you need to forgive as Christ forgave you?

Q: How does letting go and releasing a grudge free you to love others as Jesus loves them?

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."

Lord Jesus, you are merciful and kind. You are holy and compassionate. Soften my heart to forgive others and to lead my life with empathy and love. Amen.
