READ

The end of all things is near.  Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.  If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

REFLECT

“Love each other deeply.” What a beautiful verse. Note how Peter lists a variety of ways to love one another: Covering over sins. Hospitality. Offering your spiritual gifts to serve others. The way the Bible describes love transcends the emotional meaning we see in popular culture. It’s beyond feelings and preferences. It’s about the other person and acting as Christ toward them.

APPLY

Q: Why do you think Peter lists the variety of spiritual gifts in this passage?

Q: Who needs your words, time, love, mercy, and spiritual investment in their life right now? How can you be Christ to them?

Q: How would the world be changed if all followers of Christ loved each other deeply as the Scriptures described?

SING

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Lord, you are so merciful and good! Show me where I’m holding onto grudges, unforgiveness, or biases against others. Soften my heart and help me walk in the light of life. I love you and praise you! Amen.
