1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

REFLECT

Mealtimes are special. Breaking bread with someone is a sign of hospitality and peace. Here, Paul is passing down the most special meal, Communion. Whenever you see the word “you” in this passage, he means it in the plural sense, to the church members at Corinth and to us. This meal is an intimate communion between Jesus and His body.

Q: What are we proclaiming each time we take Communion together?

Q: Why is it significant to take Communion with your brothers and sisters in Christ?

Q: How can Communion inspire you to proclaim Christ to others throughout the whole week?

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."

Father, I praise you for your goodness and holiness! Thank you for your Son’s example, His broken body, and His blood that has redeemed me. Help me to live out my life in love and in communion with You and your body. Amen.
