READ

John 15:1-4
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”

REFLECT

A single vine can support numerous branches and produce much fruit.  Fruitful branches must be cut back to promote growth.  God removes things that are hindering us from producing fruit.  We have to stay close to Him because we cannot produce fruit when we are not connected to the vine.

APPLY

Q: In this passage, who is the grapevine?

Q: What kind of fruit are you producing in your life?  Do you need to be pruned? Are you connected to the vine?

Q: How can others see that you are connected to the vine?  Do they see fruit being produced in your life?

PRAY

"May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."

Father help me remain in you.  I need to be connected to you so that I can produce fruit in my life.  Show me ways to get closer to You.  Thank you for loving me enough to prune me so I can produce even more for your kingdom. God, you are so good and worthy of all my praise!
