READ

MARK 8:35-37

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

REFLECT

It's easy to get swept up in the daily routine of life. We can begin to lose sight of what is ultimately more important. We all have a choice to make: will we follow Jesus or will we follow ourselves?

APPLY

Q: What is the choice that Jesus presents in this passage?

Q: Have you chosen to follow Jesus? If not, what is holding you back?

Q: Our actions speak louder than our words. Take a moment and reflect on your choices and actions over the last 24 hours. Do they show you living life for your sake or for His sake?

PRAY

"May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."

In this time when the world encourages us to focus on ourselves, I turn to you, Lord. I place you as the center of my life. May my thoughts and feelings align with your will for my life. May I be courageous, one step at a time, as I seek to follow you forever and ever. Amen.
