READ
1 Corinthians 12:12-14
12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
REFLECT
As one body has many members performing different functions, the members of the church need to perform different functions. Each part has a specific function that is necessary to the body as a whole. The parts are different for a purpose, and our differences must work together. But we have one thing in common, our faith and purpose in Christ. We all share the same Spirit that is working inside of us all. Most importantly, we all have value!
APPLY
Q: Why are we all baptized by one Spirit?
Q: Do you appreciate the differences between yourself and those around you? Are you working with others to advance the kingdom of God?
Q: How can you model for others an appreciation for differences and promote working together for a common purpose?
SING
“Another in the Fire” by Hillsong Worship
PRAY
"Give us today our daily bread."
Father God, thank you for making me unique and valuable in Your eyes. Help me appreciate and work with others who are different from I am to advance your kingdom. Help us all be united by one Spirit into one Spiritual body.
