PSALM 42:1-3
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him?
Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies
continually taunt me, saying, “Where is this God of yours?”
PSALM 119:105-108
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow your righteous laws.
I have suffered much;
preserve my life, LORD, according to your word.
Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,
and teach me your laws.

Has your heart felt heavy over something recently? The good news is you’re not alone and the Bible captures the complex emotions of being human. We’ll be exploring some beautiful passages this week from the Psalms and the New Testament. They will bring light when your heart feels heavy and discouraged. Today’s passages focus on one spiritual tool to work through discouragement: The word of God. God has spoken through the Scriptures and still speaks through His Holy Spirit and the testimony of others.

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."
Father, you are so good and holy. Help me to focus on your goodness today and to hang on your very Word rather than my worries. Lord, I praise your holy name! Amen.
