1 CORINTHIANS 6:13

13 You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.

REFLECT

Paul addresses the issue of sexual immorality and emphasizes the importance of honoring God with our bodies. He challenges the prevailing cultural mindset that views the body as a mere vessel for pleasure and indulgence. Instead, Paul reminds us that our bodies are created for a higher purpose – to glorify God.

Our society often promotes a distorted view of the body, reducing it to an object of desire and self-gratification. However, as believers, we are called to see our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, where the presence of God resides. We are entrusted with these physical vessels to honor and serve the Lord in all that we do.

APPLY

Q: How does modern-day society often view the purpose of our bodies, and how does it contrast with God's intended purpose?

Q: How can we cultivate a mindset that values our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and treat them accordingly?

Q: How can we encourage others that God designed their hearts, minds, souls, and bodies for a Holy purpose?

PRAY

"May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."

Father God, thank you for the truth revealed in your Word. I confess any ways I have dishonored you with my body and failed to recognize its sacred purpose. Grant me discernment to see beyond societal expectations, empowering me to treat my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Help me break free from bondage and addiction and walk in the victory and freedom found in Christ. Renew my mind so that my choices align with your will. Amen.
