Acts 2:42-47
42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

These passages are such a beautiful and practical description of “the church.” You see, the church isn’t a place we go to once a week. It’s who we are as believers and followers of Jesus Christ. We are joined together as one body through Christ. For the body of Christ to function as God intended, we must function together, in unity, with intent and purpose…and that can only be done when we do life together. (1 Corinthians 12:14-26) Does this require time? YES! Does it require sacrifice? YES! Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! When we worship together, pray together, share meals together, and learn together, we become a family unit that grows together and sacrificially cares for one another so that no one’s needs go unmet. It is also in this family unit that we are awed by God as He works in us and through us. This is what you get when you join a discipleship community at TNLC…you get to be the church!
