EXODUS 3:11-15

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you.  And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’  Then what shall I tell them?”

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers —the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob —has sent me to you.’

REFLECT

When God first transformed Saul to become the Apostle Paul, many had thought, Really? Could this be the Saul, the persecutor, we knew? Likewise, other faithful heroes of the Bible struggle with God’s call. In this passage, Moses questions God directly: “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh…” Notice that God didn’t inflate Moses’s ego or make it all about the person. Rather, God emphasized how He will be with Moses. You may also wonder “Who am I?”, but God wants you to know “I AM has sent” you.

APPLY

Q: Why do you think God chose Moses, despite his doubts and insecurities?

Q: What does God's response to Moses reveal about Himself, and how can you apply this truth to your life?

Q: God’s holiness and goodness are greater than your doubts. And like Moses, your faith will help others. Reflect on who could be helped through your obedience.

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."

Lord God, you are so good, holy, and just. Thank you for seeing all I can’t see and for showing me the way in Jesus. Lord, it’s not about me. May you be glorified! Strengthen as you call me to serve you each day. Amen.
