READ

Lamentations 3:20-25

20 I will never forget this awful time,
as I grieve over my loss.
21 Yet I still dare to hope
when I remember this:
22 The faithful love of the LORD never ends![a]
His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”
25 The LORD is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.

REFLECT

In the book of Lamentations, we encounter a soul in anguish, crying out in the midst of great suffering. The author, often believed to be the prophet Jeremiah, paints a vivid picture of sorrow and despair. Yet, even in the darkest of moments, a glimmer of hope emerges.

In Lamentations 3:20-25, we witness a profound transformation—a shift from lamentation to hope. The speaker's soul is downcast, but they choose to recall something powerful: the character of God. They remember His great love and unfailing compassion.

In times of trials and tribulations, it's easy for our souls to become downcast, overwhelmed by the weight of our circumstances. But like the author of Lamentations, we too can find hope in the unchanging nature of our God.
