READ

James 4:8 NLT

"8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”

Matthew 11:28-29 NLT

“28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

REFLECT

James’ words should prompt us to consider what or who we are @loyal to.  In addition, James tells us how to come close to God.  When do you usually spend time with God? Is it only when things are bad or when you are in need of something from Him? Do you come close to Him to give your burdens?

APPLY

Q: Why does Jesus ask us to take his yoke?

Q: When does God come close to you?

Q: Do you know someone who needs to find rest for their soul? Will you share Matthew 11:28-29 with them?

PRAY

"Give us today our daily bread.”

Lord, you are always faithful to me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. Your blessings are overflowing. Even when I am sinful, you bless and keep me. You are my shelter at all times! How great is Your love for me. How great is my love for You!
