READ

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

"24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”

REFLECT

As Christians, we are running a different race - we are running toward our heavenly reward.  This will require purpose and discipline from us.  Worship, discipleship groups, and prayer will help equip us to run with vigor and stamina.  This means we need to keep our bodies healthy and have self-discipline so we will have the energy and longevity to do God’s will.

APPLY

Q: What prize are we running the race for? (verse 25)

Q: Are you running with a purpose?  Are you disciplined in how you care for your body?

Q: Who can you partner with to run this eternal race together and hold each other accountable?

SING

PRAY

"May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."

God, I look forward to the eternal prize of spending eternity with You!  Please guide me now while I am still here on earth and show me how to care for my body and glorify You.  Help me to make small sustainable changes that will give me better function, energy, and longevity.  Thank you for Your promise to always be there for me!
