READ

1 Timothy 4:7-10

"7 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. 8 “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 9 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it. 10 This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.”

REFLECT

We need to be in shape physically and even more importantly spiritually.  Physical training requires discipline and regular exercise.  Spiritual training requires discipline and regular time spent with God.  We know we will have struggles in this life, and to combat them, we need to have a strong faith and a strong body.  This doesn’t happen without being intentional and disciplined.

APPLY

Q: What is better than physical training for your body?

Q: Are you training for godliness today?  If not, why not?

Q: How can you band together with other believers and train together for godliness?

"Give us today our daily bread."

Father God, thank you for providing for my daily needs.  Help me take care of my physical body and spirituality.  Teach me how to be disciplined and intentional and to spend daily time with you and take care of my body so I can do Your will.
