READ
Proverbs 18:20-21
Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction. The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
James 4:17
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

REFLECT
There are two options when it comes to your tongue. It can speak life or it can speak death. The words you choose to speak can empower someone or enslave them. The choice is always yours. The choice often leads to death or life in you as well.
Often what we speak to others comes from the flow of what we believe to be true of ourselves. If we choose to take in death words, feasting on them, we will eventually speak them. But if we choose to take in life-giving words from things we watch and listen to, the natural overflow of our lives will be life. The more we take in words of life, the easier they will flow from within us. We know the good we ought to do, now it’s time to do it.

APPLY
Q: Is there something you listen to that contributes to death words in your life?
Q: How will you be responsible for what you take in this week, so that what flows out of you is a product of God’s goodness within you?
Q: Can you choose to overlook an offense this week, so you can win someone over with the love that Jesus offered you so freely?

PRAY
"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."
Lord, please forgive me for the times I have given access of my heart to others. Please show me where I have given in to unhealthy ways leading to my destruction and give me the strength to replace them with the abundant life You promise me.
