READ

LUKE 16:13 NLT
13 No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

1 TIMOTHY 6:9-10 NLT
9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

REFLECT

At times it can be overwhelming to think about our finances. Christians don’t intend to become enslaved to money and wander from true faith. How can you live in such a way that you don’t just use money to build yourself up? You’ve got to examine what you love, what you crave, what you trust.

APPLY

Q: Why is the love of money the root of all kinds of evil?
Q: Which master do you choose to serve? How can you declare that?
Q: How can you bless someone with your finances? What is one tangible action you can take today that will bring a blessing to someone?

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Lord Jesus, I am not worthy of the forgiveness you give to me. There are times that I am blind to the anger in my heart. Open my eyes so that I may unburden my heart from that anger. Soften my heart so that I may treat those who have wronged me with compassion. I humbly ask that you guide me with your counsel. Show me the way to forgive others as you have shown forgiveness to me.
