REFLECT
How many people in your life belong to you? If you stop to ponder this word, what kind of images does it convey? We might use this term to describe an outfit, a pet, a vehicle, or even a house… but we don’t apply it to a person. It is remarkable that the Bible doesn’t shy away from the concept of someone “belonging” to Christ. Instead, Paul declares that belonging to Christ makes us new people, and that this new life is a gift from God.

Q: Is there an area of your life that is marked by old behaviors, where you need to declare to your own heart that God has given you new life and that you are both free and empowered to change?

Lord, you are the only one worthy to belong to, the only one who can make me a new person. Grow in me a heart of gratitude for your amazing grace. Empower me to live according to my new life - make me holy, because you are holy.
