2 CORINTHIANS 5:21
"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."
"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."
REFLECT
In the beginning, Adam and Eve were able to sin - they could choose to obey God or disobey him. In that sense, there was a time when they had not sinned and did not deserve death. After they disobeyed God, the Bible says that their sin nature was passed down to every successive generation, that all people were no longer able to not sin and that every person deserved death. That means we never knew a day when we had not sinned. We needed a way out, and that way had to come from outside of ourselves.
And then God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for *our* sin, because we couldn’t pay the debt ourselves. And in that way, we were made right with God.

APPLY
Q: If God had not made Christ to be the offering for our sin, how else could we be made right with God?
Q: Are you tempted to think that you have to do certain things in order to be right with God? What does this verse say makes us right with God?
Q: Is there someone in your life that is working hard to earn God’s favor in their life? What would it mean to them to learn that they are already made right with God through Christ?
