PSALM 32:1-5

Oh, what joy for those

whose disobedience is forgiven,

whose sin is put out of sight!

2 Yes, what joy for those

whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,

whose lives are lived in complete honesty!

3 When I refused to confess my sin,

my body wasted away,

and I groaned all day long.

4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.

My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude

5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you

and stopped trying to hide my guilt.

I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”

And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude

REFLECT

Do you know the line “Confession is good for the soul?” This passage is living proof of that! Once David got his life in order and repented of his wayward heart, he could tell the difference in his body. His physical body was keeping the score of the sin he was carrying. So much so that his strength was evaporating like water in the summer heat.

Sin will zap you of the strength God wants to give you because it stands as a block between you and Him. God’s power wants to flow freely through you but you have to remove the obstacles first.

APPLY

Q: Are there any sinful obstacles in your life that you need to remove?

Q: Have you seen a difference in your physical body when sin has a hold on your life?

Q: Can you help someone discover the reward of confession today?

SING

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

God, thank You for forgiving me of all my sins and not holding them against me. May you renew my strength as I remove the obstacles between us. I choose to place You first in all that I do and say!
