READ

ACTS 2:42
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

HEBREWS 10:24-25
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

REFLECT

The first pattern and practice in the lives of the early church was to devote themselves to the apostles’ teaching - to learning the bible. But they didn’t stop there. Priority #2 was to fellowship, to spend time together, motivating and encouraging one another. They were willing to rework their lives to spend time with other people who were drawn to the same gospel that had captivated their hearts, even if those people didn’t look, act, or talk like them! They might have come from different backgrounds, spoken different languages, and even liked (gulp) different musical styles. But they spent time together anyway!

APPLY

Q: How much time do you spend in fellowship with other believers? Why is that true?

Q: Is there someone at TNLC that you would like to know better? Invite them to lunch next Sunday.

Q: Is there someone at TNLC that looks like they could use some encouragement? Don’t wait - act now to stir them up.

PRAY

"Give us today our daily bread."

Lord, you have provided the opportunity to gather with people who love you and need encouragement to continue in love and good works. And you have made me need their encouragement as well. Give me the courage to reach out to someone I don’t know well and trust you to build a connection between us.
