READ
ECCLESIASTES 3:1-8
“For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.”

REFLECT
So much of the patience problem can be solved by understanding what season of life you are in. If you are in a season of grief, you may not feel like dancing. If you are in a season of planting, then don’t expect a harvest quite yet. If you are in a season of crying, know that laughter is coming. If we lean into the season at hand, changing our perspective to one of gratitude and awareness for the details of that season, we can increase our capacity for patience.
It would be silly to ask a flower to grow faster in the middle of harsh winter. It would be silly to ask the leaves on the tree not to give way to the fall. Or to tell the ground to stay barren in the springtime. Each season holds its own treasure and as we lean into what God has for us in it, we find that patience becomes second nature.

Q: How can you cultivate a heart of gratitude in this season?
Q: Is there someone in your life who needs to be reminded that life comes in seasons? Nothing bad lasts forever!

PRAY
"Give us today our daily bread."
Dear Father God, thank You for giving me just enough to walk through this current season of life. May I have patience in Your timing of the next season and actively pursue Your best for me in this season.
