READ

COLOSSIANS 3:11-14

“In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. ****Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”

REFLECT

If we were truly clothed in mercy, kindness, humility, and gentleness, then wouldn’t patience become more natural to us? If we woke up every morning asking God to clothe us and cover us in the things that bring Him the most glory, wouldn’t patience just become a byproduct of who we are? It seems like a tall order, but the more we clothe ourselves in patience, the more we will look and sound like the One who died for us—the One who endured those nails and crown of thorns for us. The One who had enough patience for us when we weren’t really being who we could be.

Jesus gave it all. He never ran out of patience when it came to waiting for you. Perhaps you could extend that patience to someone today who has yet to know the freedom and hope you’ve found in Jesus.

APPLY

PRAY

"And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one."

Dear Father God, please help me to resist the enemy’s ploys today. May I stand firm in who I’ve been called to be and clothe myself with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
