John 16:31-33
31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

REFLECT
Imagine being told, “Something terrible is going to happen to you very soon… and I am telling this to you so that you can have peace.” That would seem odd, but it's exactly what Jesus says to His disciples. He is telling them that though they will be scattered, leaving Him alone, His mission will not fail. He will ascend the hill. He will bear the yoke unbearable to humanity. He is the one worthy to open the scroll, to sit at the right hand of the Father. All of the sins and evil in this world are powerless to affect this reality.
