READ

James 1:2-6

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

REFLECT

A mature tree will have deep roots, strengthened by times of drought and wind. It’s like your faith in God. That which tests your faith produces more endurance and trust. Note how James connects endurance and faith with wisdom. It’s something you have access to through God every single day.

APPLY

Q: Why does James tell you to “count it” when you face trials?

Q: When you face trials, do you tend to run *from* discomfort or run *to* God first?

Q: Seek God in prayer today and ask for wisdom to honor Him. Pray for others whom you can encourage this week.

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Lord, you have forgiven me everything through Jesus. Help me walk out a life of mercy, love, and trust in you so it pours out into others. Amen.
