What do you do when God cares about someone you don’t? What if the people you’ve written off, disagreed with, or decided don’t deserve another chance are still deeply loved by God?
Jonah shows us how easy it is to know what God says while missing God’s heart. Jonah didn’t struggle to understand God’s mercy—he struggled with who God wanted to show it to. And that tension still exists in our lives today.
Through Jonah’s story, we’re reminded that God’s heart is broken for people we may not care about. Romans 5 reminds us that Christ came toward us while we were still sinners, and Jesus ultimately does what Jonah could not: He moves toward people who don’t deserve His love.
