READ

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Psalm 27:13
“Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”

REFLECT

Do you know that with Jesus in you, you are a light to this dark world? Wherever you go, the light shows up. You illuminate the things that many want to keep in darkness. So that friction you feel in the air when you show up in a dark place, remember that’s the light in you piercing the darkness. God is using you to dispel the darkness so that those who walk in it can be quickened and awakened to the possibility that someone loves them and cares for them. Someone cares enough for them to die for them. They may not like how it feels to have your light shining in their dark world, but remember you’re not responsible for how they feel, you are only responsible for carrying the light of Jesus and letting Him do the work that only He can do in others. Shine brightly this week, for some you will be the only light they experience this week!

APPLY

Q: How can you confidently walk as a light carrier into the spheres of influence that God has entrusted to you?

Q: What can you do this week to shine brighter for Jesus?

Q: When you feel the friction and tension from light piercing the darkness in your world, how can you better respond to bring the hope that is in Jesus Christ alone?

SING

PRAY

"And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one."

Dear God, when I’m tempted to hide my light in places where it feels uncomfortable, please convict me and remind me that I am a light carrier for Your glory. May I shine brightly this week and leave the details to You!
